March 29, 2016—Pope Elementary School fourth-grade studentKashyapi Atri, a gifted and talented (HORIZONS) student, accelerated through school so quickly that she skipped her third-grade year. A hopeful future pediatrician, Atri enjoys playing her recorder instrument and competing in athletics tournaments.

Accomplishments: All-A Honor Roll student; GT/HORIZONS student; skipped third grade; competitive soccer, softball and basketball player.

Favorite class: Math and science. “I have the best Teacher, Mrs. [Brandi] Rios for math/science. I love all the fun science experiments we get to do with her. I also enjoy the fun Kahoot games in math.”

Favorite things to do after class: Read, write short stories, talk to my mom and play sports.

Favorite song: “Declaration,” adapted by Teresa Jennings

Favorite website: Sumdog. “It is fun and you don’t even remember it is math.”

Favorite TV show: How It’s Made. “It is interesting to watch how things are really made.”

Favorite movie: Tangled. “Rapunzel has to find enough courage to leave the tower.”

Ambition: “When I grow up, I want to become a pediatrician and help children feel better when they are in pain.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? “I am passionate about sports, travel and the human body.”

What inspires you? My family, friends and teachers.

What three things can’t you live without? Sports, my puppy and my family. 

What are you most looking forward to this semester? Sports tournaments, fun times at school/at home and playing the recorder.
